My arm had a four-inch gash, blood dripping from my fingertips.

Yet, the first thing my fiancé said when he woke up, the man I had just risked my life to save, was to ask if Hailey Sterling, who was cowering outside the door, was alright.

Inside the top-floor conference room of the Cole Group, Julian Carter sat with a bandage on his forehead. He claimed he had "amnesia" from the hit and said he only remembered Hailey.

His mother awkwardly told me to be patient and wait for him.

Suddenly, my late grandmother's voice exploded in my mind.

"He is faking it. He played this exact same trick on you in your past life, bleeding the Cole family dry while keeping Hailey perfectly safe."

My grandfather slammed three marriage alliance proposals onto the mahogany table.

Julian finally looked at me, his voice dismissive. He said he would still go through with our wedding, but demanded I stop making life difficult for Hailey.

Without a single second of hesitation, I bypassed the Carter family's contract and picked up the very last folder.

"Grandpa, I choose Greyson Vance."
