Chapter 1

My husband has split personality disorder. Or so I thought.

On our anniversary, he dragged me to his lawyer’s office for the third time to force me to sign the divorce papers. Right after, he forced abortion-inducing pills down my throat.

I blacked out from the excruciating pain and spent three days in the hospital.

When I was finally discharged, I saw Ethan standing near the hospital entrance.

He was surrounded by his close friends. One of them, Marcus, leaned in and asked in a low voice:

"Ethan, how much longer are you going to use this split-personality lie to trick Hazel? Do you really not care about the baby at all?"

Ethan casually flicked a piece of lint off his jacket.

"Chloe has been having nightmares again about how Hazel bullied her back in high school. She’s depressed and can’t sleep. I had to do this to make her feel better."

"Besides, Hazel is fertile. We can have another baby whenever we want."

Tyler looked at him, his face filled with pity.

"But Hazel spent every single penny of her savings to find a cure for your mental illness. She didn't even get to see her parents one last time before they died because she was traveling to find a specialist for you."

Ethan let out a cold scoff.

"She spent that money voluntarily. And I’m supporting her for the rest of her life, isn't that enough?"

"Once Chloe gets over her trauma, I’ll just pretend my 'other personality' is cured. Hazel will crawl right back to me and call off the divorce anyway."

A sharp, tearing pain flared in my lower abdomen. I clenched my fists so hard my nails dug into my palms.

What he didn't know was that three times was my limit.

Once this 30-day separation cooling-off period ended,

He and I would be finished forever.
