Chapter 11

2,711 words

James's eyes flew open.

He quickly got up off me, hurriedly taking off his coat and holding it in front of me.

He looked like he was facing a great enemy.

His specific body language resembled that of "an adulterer caught in the act".

He gripped my shoulders with both hands, sweat beading on his forehead as he spoke breathlessly.

"What should we do?"

I stared at him speechlessly, looking him up and down as I straightened my clothes, still not understanding.

"What's the big deal? Just let Ryan come in."

"He's young and impulsive. What if he hits me?"

He seemed really afraid of Ryan.

I irritably threw the coat back at him.

"Why would he hit you? You're the teacher, he's the student... Just because you were kissing me during work hours? He didn't even hit you when you harassed him last time. Is his temper that bad?"

James seemed to realize I was unhappy.

He smoothly put on his coat.

"I have a good temper too. If he really wants to hit me," he said firmly, "I'll let him."

I was really done with this.

"He's not going to hit you."

"I'll go open the door now. Hiding and not opening it will only make people think we're up to something."

James followed behind me: "You're so smart."

I: "..."

Ever since getting back together with James, my double eyelids had gotten wider - from constantly rolling my eyes.

James rushed in front of me and put his hand on the doorknob, taking a deep breath as if steeling himself.

"Lily, remember to stay quiet. I'll handle this."

"I get it. I'll just stay speechless."

Ryan was very surprised to see me.

His mouth fell open and he even dropped his report.

"Sis?! What are you doing in Dr. James's office?"

James awkwardly coughed, "Ahem, don't misunderstand. She got lost in the hospital."

Goddammit.

I knew it.

This guy really was sick in the head.

Ryan definitely didn't believe that.

And he was very wary of James.

"Dr. James, do you think I'm an idiot? I already warned you, yet you still go after people close to me? Do you want me to report you?"

James lowered his head in shame.

"I'm truly sorry for any harm I've caused you..."

Ryan couldn't be bothered to listen to him and waved me over: "Come here, sis."

Me: "???"

I remained motionless, continuing to observe.

Like a caveman who had just gained consciousness.

James buried his head extremely low, his hands clenched into fists as his voice trembled slightly.

"Actually, I've been wanting to ask you... would you be willing to immigrate with me?"

A sad atmosphere suddenly permeated the air.

The room fell silent for a few seconds.

I pondered -

Who was he asking?

"Shameless!" Ryan spat out.

He grabbed my arm and ran.

James stood there, not chasing after us.
