Chapter 9

2,200 words

I had wanted to play this game with James for a long time.

The door opened from the inside.

James hurriedly pulled me into the room.

"How dare you come to the hospital to find me?"

What kind of question was that?

I calmly sat down and glanced at him.

"Dr. James, always acting so sneaky. Do you have another girlfriend out there?"

James sat down in front of me, staring at me intently and letting out a long sigh.

"What do you think? I'm already so infatuated with you that I've lost all sense of shame."

He always seemed so reluctant.

Whatever, I liked forcing him.

I leaned forward, furrowing my brow slightly.

"Dr. James, I'm not feeling well. Can you examine me?"

James seemed to know what I was up to and played along half-heartedly.

"Tell me, what's wrong?"

I let out an affected "hmph".

"My breasts hurt, my back hurts, my legs feel weak too."

James coldly raised his eyes to look at me, pointing at his name badge with his pen.

"Oh, I'm an internal medicine doctor. You should see someone else."

I knew he wouldn't play along with me.

I leaned forward on his desk.

"Dr. James, I haven't even told you about the inside yet. It feels even worse inside."

James pressed his fingers to his forehead, looking at me extremely helplessly.

"Are my lines not important?"

I clicked my tongue impatiently.

"Are you a real doctor? Why aren't you asking where I don't feel well?"

James was forced to comply: "Where don't you feel well?"

I stared straight at him.

"I'm aching for you inside, Dr. James."

The pen suddenly slipped from his hand, clattering awkwardly onto the desk before rolling to the floor with a panicked sound.

James was frozen in shock.

He turned his head away, the tips of his ears bright red.

"I already like you so much, stop trying to seduce me. I'm not going to fool around with you in the hospital."

I was just teasing him verbally.

"I just came to see you. I probably interrupted you reading papers."

I looked around his office as I stood up, still talking.

"By the way, where's Ryan? Is he on the same floor as you?"

James thought I was leaving and also stood up, looking anxious but answering irrelevantly.

"He doesn't have his own office!"
